Area 15: District
Gensler
DMD Weathering Steel
DMD Zinc-plated Steel
Las Vegas, NV
2025
Dissimilar Metal Design fabricated and supplied the weathering steel and corrugated plated zinc panels throughout AREA15’s new expansion, District, in Las Vegas.
Designed by Gensler, the project builds on AREA15’s reputation for immersive, art-driven architecture with a new area which opened in 2025.
The materials play a key role in defining the site’s visual identity. The weathering steel evolves naturally under the desert sun, while the plated zinc panels bring a refined metallic contrast. Together they give the campus its distinctive rhythm and texture, grounding the surreal experience in honest, expressive metalwork.

Dissimilar Metal Design fabricated and supplied the weathering steel and corrugated plated zinc panels used throughout the project—materials chosen for their texture, durability, and evolving surface character.
The steel’s natural patina captures the desert’s shifting light, while the zinc panels introduce a subtle metallic rhythm that plays across the site’s architecture. The material’s custom weathering steel patina by Dissimilar is designed to prevent bleeding and reduce maintenance while offering a ruggedly refined aesthetic.
The result is a destination that feels alive. The project is equal parts art installation, event venue, and urban experiment. It reflects Las Vegas’ growing reputation as a hub for creativity and immersive design.
