Designed by Khanna Schultz, House in Michigan is a project which features a facade of warm weathering steel, design-engineered and fabricated by Dissimilar.

House for a Collector is a design by Khanna Schultz featuring a simple palette of natural expressed materials. The building’s motif contrasts natural concrete with DMD Weathering steel. This weathering steel product is made by Dissimilar using a preweathering patina process.

In addition to providing this material, Dissimilar was brought on to create a highly developed and engineered facade system with precision alignments of varying conditions.  Collaborating closely with the Owner, Architect and Contractor (OAC) team, DMD engineered and fabricated the systems for the steel exterior as part of a design assist contract.

The result is a warm, low maintenance and highly durable facade, with architectural accents of soffit, walls and fencing, and an attached trellis.
